Thanks for sharing the love!

I really appreciate everyone who told a friend or left a nice 5-star review on Apple Podcasts!

Check out How Not To Sail on Patreon!

Speaking of sharing the love, Big Thanks to Captain Boomies for being my very first patron on Patreon! (I haven’t even officially launched it yet, but we have some eagle-eyed Twitter friends.)

If you don’t know, Patreon is a thing that lets you help your favorite creators create more. Plus some cool perks.

I’ve had a number of folks ask, “Where’s your Patreon page?” So now I’ve set one up, in case ya feel like contributing.

I’ll be adding some cool perks and swag, but just know you won’t miss out on anything by being one of the first kids to jump in like Captain Boomies. (And for most folks, it’s not about the swag, anyway. It’s about being a part of something cool.)

And I thank you kindly.

Anchor Art with the Anchor! App

I’ve been using the Anchor! app on my iPhone, which is super handy. As it turns out, it also makes some cool abstract art. (Well, if you’re easily amused like me.) Anyway, I’ve been posting some of the screen grabs to the How Not To Sail Instagram account:

UPDATE: Due to my, um, evolving appreciation of digital privacy and my distrust of mobile apps in that regard—well-founded, I might add—I would now urge you to be more cautious about using mobile apps for, well, anything other than a phone. We can get similar functionality from many chartplotters, or ever old handheld GPS units, like my Garmin ___ (I forget the model, but circa 2009). I haven’t checked into this Anchor app lately to see what, if anything, it’s sharing, but let’s just stick with tools that can’t share private information, like our location, with unknown third parties, okay?

If you have any questions, hit me up in the comments, or via email or the contact form here. I am endeavoring to make this site as privacy-friendly as possible, stripping out unnecessary plugins and code.

If you’re not paying for the product…the product is YOU.
